Quality and testing
A cleaning consumable is released against a written specification. This page describes the inspection framework, the kinds of tests that can be applied and the records that make a delivered lot traceable.
Three inspection stages
| Stage | What is controlled | Typical checks | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incoming | Fibre, substrate, liquid and packaging | Identity, grade, basis weight, visual condition, SDS/TDS match, packaging integrity | Prevents an unapproved material from entering production |
| In-process | Web conversion and impregnation | Width, tension, visual condition, loading, distribution, edge quality | Catches drift before a full lot is produced |
| Finished product | Released roll or sheet | Dimensions, basis weight, thickness, loading, visual, packing, labelling | Confirms the lot matches the specification |
| Retention | Records and samples | Lot records, test results, retained sample where required | Supports investigation and change control |
Test methods
The applicable methods depend on the product and the agreed specification. The table lists methods that may be used; the exact method and acceptance limit are stated on the product data sheet or specification.
| Property | Possible method | Typical stage | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basis weight | Gravimetric, conditioned sample | Incoming / finished | Sample size and conditioning must be defined |
| Thickness | Micrometer or specified gauge pressure | Incoming / finished | Pressure and dwell affect the result |
| Tensile strength / elongation | Tensile tester, defined specimen geometry | Incoming / finished | Direction and test speed must be stated |
| Width and length | Measured against drawing or specification | In-process / finished | Include tolerance and measurement method |
| Loading | Gravimetric difference, defined basis | In-process / finished | See the loading definition on the technology page |
| Uniformity | Multi-point sampling across width and length | In-process / finished | Sampling plan is part of the specification |
| Lint / particle release | Defined shake, rinse or tape method | Development / finished | Method must match the downstream risk |
| Extractables | Solvent extraction with gravimetric or analytical finish | Development / finished | Solvent and conditions must be stated |
| Visual and edge quality | Defined inspection lighting and acceptance criteria | In-process / finished | Photographic reference limits help consistency |
| Packaging integrity | Seal, appearance, label and quantity check | Finished | Critical for impregnated products |
A test result without a method, sample size and acceptance limit is not a specification. This is a framework, not a claim that every test is available for every product.
Sampling logic
Sampling must represent the lot. For a wide roll, a single centre sample does not describe the edges. For an impregnated roll, the outside and inside of the wound roll may differ after storage. A workable plan defines the lot, the number of samples, their positions, the conditioning and the statistic used for acceptance.
Where the consequence of variation is high, the plan should report distribution as well as the mean. A mean within tolerance can hide a local area outside it.
Traceability and records
- Lot identification on the product and packaging.
- Link to incoming material and approved supplier records.
- In-process parameters relevant to the specification.
- Finished-product results and disposition.
- Retained sample or reference material where required.
Traceability is only useful if it can be retrieved quickly. For a production issue, the ability to identify the supplied lot and its recorded results is more valuable than a generic certificate.
Nonconformance and change control
A lot that does not meet specification is held and investigated before release. Any concession must be documented and approved by the customer where the deviation affects fit, function or downstream risk.
Changes to substrate, liquid, loading, dimensions or packaging are reviewed before implementation. Where the change can affect the cleaning result, the customer is notified and a re-qualification requirement is agreed. This discipline is especially important for custom products, where the approved specification is the only common reference.
Certification integrity
This website does not display quality certificates, customer logos or test reports that have not been verified and authorised for publication. Certification status and scope are provided directly during supplier qualification.

Frequently asked questions
What is inspected on a finished roll?
Depending on the product: substrate identity, basis weight, thickness, width, length, visual condition, edge quality, splice status, impregnation loading and distribution, packaging integrity and labelling. The exact list is part of the product specification.
Do you provide a certificate of analysis?
A certificate or lot inspection record is provided on request, stating the measured results against the agreed specification. The available tests depend on the product and the agreed test methods.
How is traceability maintained?
Each lot is identified and linked to incoming material records, in-process parameters and finished-product inspection results. Packaging carries the lot identification used for retrieval.
Are certifications published on the website?
No certification is implied unless it is genuinely held and verified. Certification status and scope are provided during supplier qualification. The website does not display certificates that have not been confirmed.
What happens when a lot does not meet specification?
The lot is held, the deviation is documented and the cause is investigated before any disposition decision. Material is not released against a specification it does not meet without an approved, documented concession.
