Product 03 · Liquids
Functional impregnation oil
Liquid grades supplied for loading into nonwoven cleaning media. Each grade is defined by its verified function, compatibility and loading behaviour — not by a generic "roller cleaning oil" label.
What this product family is
This is a liquid supplied for impregnation of a nonwoven substrate. It may be used by a converter to produce pre-impregnated cloth, or by a manufacturer with its own loading line. The liquid is only one part of the system: substrate, loading level, distribution and packaging determine the result.
Because the function of a liquid cannot be inferred from its appearance or from a commercial keyword, each grade is documented individually. The technical data sheet states the verified function, the recommended substrate families, the loading range and the compatibility limits.
Naming policy
The terms "roller cleaning oil", "cleaning oil", "cleaning agent" and "cleaning solution" imply a specific chemical function. We use those terms only for grades whose function and intended use have been confirmed for electrode roll cleaning. A functional impregnation oil is not assumed to be a cleaning solvent, lubricant or conventional cleaning agent.
How a grade is defined
| Characteristic | Why it is documented | How it is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Verified function | Determines whether the grade is suitable for the intended cleaning step | Technical data sheet and application review |
| Compatibility | Protects the roll surface, electrode chemistry and downstream process | Material compatibility assessment and trial |
| Viscosity and flow | Affects pickup, distribution and retention in the web | Measured data and impregnation trial |
| Volatility | Affects shelf life, evaporation during use and film formation | Documented behaviour under defined conditions |
| Loading range | Sets the usable dose on a given substrate | Trial results, then fixed in the product specification |
| Handling and storage | Defines safe storage, shelf life and disposal | SDS and packaging specification |
Impregnation is a process, not a dip
Loading a nonwoven evenly is more difficult than saturating it. The substrate must be compatible with the liquid, the application method must deliver a controlled amount, and the web must be dried or equilibrated under conditions that do not degrade the liquid or redistribute it.
For a converter, the key variables are web speed, liquid viscosity, nip pressure or metering method, and the drying or equilibration profile. For in-house loading, the same variables apply plus the handling of the loaded roll. The technical background is covered in nonwoven impregnation.
Compatibility review
Before a liquid is released for a cleaning application, confirm:
- The roll surface material and finish, including any coating or treatment.
- The electrode chemistry and the sensitivity of downstream coating or lamination.
- The temperature at the cleaning point and the dwell time of any residue.
- The substrate chemistry, so that the liquid does not degrade the web.
- Storage and handling conditions from delivery to use.
The assessment process is described in material compatibility. A liquid that performs well in isolation can still be unsuitable on a specific line.
Packaging, storage and documentation
Packaging format, fill size, shelf life and storage conditions are stated per grade. Each delivery is accompanied by lot identification and the applicable safety documentation. Do not decant into unlabelled containers, and do not store opened containers beyond the stated working period.
What we will not claim
We do not publish cleaning efficiency, roller life extension or contamination elimination claims unless supported by application-specific test data. Those outcomes depend on the roll condition, the contaminant, the cleaning method and the operating discipline. A material datasheet is not a performance guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
Is this product a roller cleaning oil?
Only if a specific grade has been verified for that function. The product family is described as functional impregnation oil because the liquid is supplied for loading into a nonwoven medium. Each grade is named and described according to its confirmed function, chemistry and intended use.
Can you recommend a loading level?
A starting loading range is proposed from the substrate, liquid behaviour and cleaning method, then confirmed by trial. Loading is expressed as mass per unit area or per unit mass with a tolerance, and uniformity is checked separately.
Do you supply safety data?
A safety data sheet is provided for each supplied grade, together with handling, storage and disposal guidance. The SDS and the technical data sheet define the grade and must be reviewed before use.
Can the liquid be used with our own nonwoven?
Potentially, subject to a compatibility assessment of the substrate, the liquid and the impregnation method. Send the substrate specification, target loading and process details for review.
What happens if the liquid is incompatible with the roll?
The trial should be stopped and the roll inspected. Incompatibility can appear as hazing, staining, film formation or changed surface behaviour. The material must not be released to production until compatibility is confirmed.
